my skin has never been particularly easy going, or rather it's quite temperamental. depending on the environment/season, the time of day, the amount of makeup (and how good i've been at removing said makeup at the end of the night), the food i've been eating, and my stress level my skin can go from splotchy to blemishy to dry in a single day. talk about combination skin... well, my solution (hopefully) is this: a total change-up in my skin care routine-- for the next 30 days i'm not going to (technically) wash my face*. i know, i know this seems super counter intuitive to having clean skin and whatnot but at this point i'd try anything to get my board under control come springtime. basically the plan is this:
-- use sephora cleansing water once to twice a day to remove makeup and other gunk lurking in my pores.-- follow with sephora toner** for skin balancing and moisture retaining goodness.
-- moisturize as usual. i use bare minerals combo skin moisturizer (mostly for day).
-- other new things i'm currently trying: too faced BB cream in nude glow - i'm really fascinated by this new BB (beauty balm or blemish balm) cream trend. it's growing in popularity here in the states, but apparently has been well known in asian countries for awhile. essentially it's a multi-benefit cream that moisturizes, protects (has spf), evens skin tone (it's tinted), primes skin, and enhances skin overall. for nighttime i'm starting to use argan oil to moisturize my skin and hair.
-- exceptions: i'll probably still occasionally use cetaphil's gentle skin cleanser as it's actually a non-soap wash.
so here goes nothing!
*i got the idea from this glamour.com blog post.
**is it obvious i'm a sephora junkie (beauty insider points to date... in the thousands, oops)?
UPDATE:
in case you're wondering... my skin has never been better. i haven't gotten a single pimple since changing my skin care routine to this. i have gotten a blemish or two when slacking or touching my face too much, but ZERO major breakouts. at. all. and the texture of skin is so smooth. (:

I'm excited to hear how this goes! I use a Sephora cleanser to take off my makeup at the end of the day, but any (ANY)extra efforts I have put into helping my skin have ended badly. I'm even afraid of moisturizer because I'm afraid my natural moisture will go away.
