Italian Film Festival Returns!

I would never lie to you! SIFF, Seattle International Film Festival, is presenting it's 3rd round of contemporary Italian cinema in Cinema Italian Style this November! Among my favorite events of the season, the Italian film festival is high ranking.
With Oscar potential, Terraferma, is probably one of the films I'm looking forward to seeing most; along with the accolade-clad Habemus Papem, directed by the amazing Nanni Moretti. If you're in the Seattle area or will be between November 16th and 20th, I urge to take this rare opportunity of screening the top contemporary Italian cinema as well as meeting-and-greeting/Q-ing and A-ing with the film's writers, directors, and actors!

There are student, group, and member discounts, too! Don't let the chilling weather scare you, cozy up inside SIFF's newly acquired Uptown Theater in Queen Anne.

Pratica, pratica, pratica!

My friends, Sophie and Damaris, asked me to help them write a letter in Italian to their soon-to-be host family in Italy. It is my pleasure to be able to use my Italian, it's a weird feeling because I've never used my Italian before (other than for schoolwork/studying abroad/speaking with native Italian speakers). I've studied for three years, plus a quarter abroad, and now I get to use it! It's cool, I feel cool.

Internship-wrecked and other news

I got the Italian Cinema Studies Internship, yes! I'm nervous because I'll have to speak fluent/correct/good/not-fucked-up Italian to Italian directors coming for the Italian SIFF (google: italian siff). Sono nervosa, non voglia fare cazzate! Devo studiare, studiare, studiare ma anche praticare, praticare...

Update-

Ran into my Ital. Cinema TA on the bus home yesterday. I didn't catch her name, but I'm sure I'll seeing a lot of her soon. I need to do my research on Ospetek. And by research I mean watch his films! Yay. Haha, best research I could do though, right? I can't wait to see all the SIFF Italiana screenings for free with the directors (le regie).

Speaking of the internship, I'm still trying to scrounge up $271 in order to get the 5 credits! I'm registered for 3 right now (or a total of 18 credits for this quarter), but I need the whole five or else it won't make a huge difference for the bottom line.

In other exciting news, I found the most wonderful discount for the Seattle Opera! That way, the Italian Club and whoever else wants to come can see Lucia di Lammermoor this month at 50-70% off!!! I should inform Samantha and Nyasha about this, I'd love it if they could make it down from Bellingham to see it with me. Imagine, my very first opera. Mio Dio, bisogno di trovare il vestito! Bisogno i vestiti per l'opera ma anche per SIFF!

That's a que for me to get on with my morning and start being productive. Practice Italian, anyone? Penso di si. I do want to do a small Italian conversation group this Sunday if anyone's willing/avail.? Maybe Cafe` Allegro, Zoka, Solstice, etc... I'll decide tomorrow morning.
