fourth of july

ever since seeing a neighbor of ours blow his fingers to bits one fourth of july when i was about 10 or so the idea of lighting explosives just didn't appeal to me much. plus, living in seattle means fireworks is basically a no-no, which is perfectly fine with me. n and i strolled on down to gas works park for the family 4th event where the best fireworks show ever happens over lake union

we didn't necessarily want to bake in the sun all day like most people naturally do, so we left around 6, 6 e mezzo. already crowded with people, we shuffled over to the lemonade and hand-dipped corn dog stands to get our carnival food fix then went hunting for a spot to park our blanket. it was a struggle for sure. of course the best spots on the high hill were taken, but we shimmied in on the lower part to score a fantastic view of the fireworks barge. lazily letting the time pass and sun set with my love was a fourth of july well spent without question.

watching the reflection of the sun setting

hope everyone else had a safe and fun-filled Independence Day, too.
